As pet owners, we know that our furry (or feathery or scaly) pets are more than just animals that live in our homes. These littlest creatures aren’t just additional mouths to feed nor bills to pay. They are not just for display either. They are with us because they give us unconditional love and they make our lives so much better. It’s hard to imagine losing them.
But in cases of disasters, that’s a possible scenario. When catastrophes strike, we may have little choice on what to do with them. We don’t want to leave them behind, but they may get separated from us. As much as we want to always be there for our pets, we must be prepared in case that’s not possible.
Create a pet emergency plan for such cases. You may not think you need it today, but you never know when you will, so just create one. A pet emergency plan makes sure your beloved non-human family members are taken care of even if you can’t be there for them. It makes sure that they can survive disasters and be reunited with you soon.
Be prepared always. Your pets depend on you so much, don’t let them down.
